Tile Coasters

I made several sets of these this Christmas. Not pictured are some zebra printed ones w/initial, and some Christmas wreath with initial too. Just buy a 4x4 tile, (they are only 12 cents each) and some corkboard from Lowes. I got a huge roll of corkboard; it was the only thing I could find. I'm sure you could buy individual squares somewhere but I was in a hurry so I bought the roll and trust me, it will last a lifetime. That's a lotta cork!! Anyway I used beverage napkins for the G coasters Peel the backing off the napkin and glue down with mod podge; it looks like the image was printed on the tile. You can also use tissue paper or scrapbook paper too. The 2nd picture I used tissue paper and painted on a fluer de lis. After that's done, cut the corkboard to fit the back of the tile, glue on, then put another layer of mod podge on top of coaster to seal it and you're all done

Scrapbook Paper on Hanging letters

Turn letter upside down, trace onto back of scrapbook paper, cut out and glue to the front.

Gift Bag Art

This was done a year or so ago for my daughter's room. She liked this gift bag with the girl on it (she said she thought the girl looked like her since she had brown eyes) so I cut it out, glued to a piece of wrapping paper, lined it with some ribbon and added a few jewels Then painted the inner part of frame green and white. Another free decoration!

Ornament wreaths

The first one is a coat hanger that I took apart, strung the balls onto (after taking the tops off the balls and super gluing down so they didn't pop off) and putting hanger wire back together. I got this idea on Eddie Ross. The 2nd one is my daughter's; just wrapped clusters of balls around the hanger. She did the bow--can you tell? :-)

Christmas Garland

This is just a garland that I made (my husband didn't want to drill holes into the brick so I actually gorilla glued some command strips up there) Anyway just draped random ornaments, ribbon, and mesh until I thought it looked right. The first time I did it, it fell...that was before the gorilla glue. Now I am a true believer in it because it stayed all month.

Personalized Stockings

The girls were asking why our stockings didn't have our names on them, so instead of getting them embroidered I found some really thick ribbon that I had from last year and painted each of our names on it and fabric glued to the stockings. Here are pics

Guest Bath Re-do

When we first got married, I only decorated in red, red, and gold, and mostly red. SOOO tired of red. So now, moving on to blue and brown.

Ugly cabinet transformation

Believe it or not, the brown one was even worse before than it was in this picture. It was light oak, with these hideous brass handles. I didn't want to buy a new nightstnad yet for the guest room, so I painted it this mocha color and put silver handles on the door (yes that is a door-so bad I know) Anyway so when I decided to switch the guest room to Jenna's bedroom, I didn't want to spend a lot but didn't think this 'gem' had much potential. But I realized I had some leftover pink paint from Ashlee's room, and thought if I could take the door off and add a shelf, it would work fine. My husband got a piece of scrap wood for me, I put it in after painting the whole thing and added some scrapbook paper to the back, and here it is. All free!

Birthday Party Stuff

I forgot to buy a first birthday party hat for my little one this year, so I improvised. I had the package of birthday hats for all the kids and painted one yellow, added the trim and other stuff (all in my craft room--aka laundry room shelves) You'd be surprised what you can come up with!! Also the cupcake tray just seemed to need some height to it so I found an old vase under the kitchen sink and painted it personalized for her and put some decor in it from the girls rooms. Quick and easy last minute decor (and everything always is last minute around here!)

I still need to paint this room, but adding some simple decor has really helped me go in here more and get stuff done!

Copycat Painting

I was in the mood to redo the guest bedroom into Jenna's room and on my favorite website, found this butterfly painting. Problem was, it was $170, which I was just not willing to pay. So...I copied it--not exact obviously, just made it similar. The first picture is the inspiration and the second is mine. It cost me about $7 for the canvas, and I already had the paint, and only 3 hours total!

Photo Cube

This is one I did years ago, I know it was when my oldest was a baby, because my sister had a photo cube on her living room coffee table. Well, Kendall knocked it off and broke it, so I decided rather than buy her a new one I would just make her another one. I was so proud of it!!
